The Batman Part 2 Set to Begin Filming in 2025

The long-awaited sequel to The Batman is officially gearing up for production. Director Matt Reeves confirmed that The Batman Part 2 will begin shooting next year, in 2025.

In a conversation with Variety, Reeves and actress Zoë Kravitz, who starred as Catwoman in the first film, briefly discussed the progress of the sequel. “We’re finishing the script. We’re going to be shooting next year,” Reeves revealed, offering fans an exciting update.

This news comes after a lengthy wait since the original film’s release in 2022. Starring Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, The Batman introduced a gritty new vision of Gotham City. It balanced the grounded realism of Christopher Nolan’s trilogy with the gothic aesthetic of Tim Burton’s take on the character. The film was a critical and commercial success, leaving fans eagerly anticipating its follow-up.

While the wait for the sequel has been long, fans haven’t been entirely without new Batman content. Earlier this year, the Max spinoff series The Penguin debuted, starring Colin Farrell as the iconic mobster. The series, focusing on Oswald Cobblepot’s rise to power, was met with acclaim, and Reeves hinted that there could be more to come.

“We’re talking to [showrunner] Laurence [LeFranc] about doing another season,” Reeves shared during the discussion. “That was a special experience. I just feel really fortunate. These characters don’t belong to me; they belong to the world. It comes down to whether you can approach them in a way that expresses something personal.”

With The Batman Part 2 finally on the horizon and the potential for more from The Penguin, it’s an exciting time for fans of Gotham’s dark and twisted world.
